Limit distracting websites in Safari on iPhone
Set a focused website boundary in Safari without losing study tools: compare website restrictions, hidden page items and practical access checks.
Opening a reference in Safari can turn into checking a familiar feed. Start with the one or two websites that interrupt your task, keep useful pages available, and test the boundary during real work. You may not need to block the entire browser.

Choose the kind of boundary you need
Hiding a distracting page item is different from stopping a website from opening. Safari’s Distraction Control concerns page elements; clearing cookies or history also does not create a focus boundary. Write down the distracting domain and when you want to stop visiting it. Keep your reading, research and sign-in needs on a separate list.
Check the guide for your iOS version
Apple’s iOS 26 guide describes specific URL restrictions under Screen Time’s Content & Privacy Restrictions and Web Content. Menus changed in iOS 27, so choose your version in the guide instead of assuming the same path. The adult-content filter can affect other pages too. Change settings on your own device and test the sites you need.

Try one small work session
For example, protect a 30-minute session to draft a page; this is a practical example, not a scientifically optimal interval. Try opening the distracting address, your reference page and your login page. A service may use several domains or an app. Blocking one address does not prove that every route in every browser is blocked.
Schedule selected sites with Pawlock
Pawlock lets you select distracting apps and sites for a work schedule. Leave maps, banking, authentication and urgent communication outside the selection. After the session, check what you completed and whether any needed page was unavailable. Narrow a rule that blocks your work tools; a usable boundary is easier to keep.
Frequently asked
Does hiding an item in Safari block the website?
No. Hiding page elements and restricting website access are separate controls. Choose the one that matches the problem.
Should I block all of Safari?
Start with a narrower choice if you need the browser for work or study. Verify important sites and communication before relying on the schedule.
